Abstract
Transient, turbulent flows driven by radial gravity are simulated using the INSTED compute program. Using the algebraic stress model for the Reynolds stress tensor and the algebraic heat flux model for the Reynolds stress tensor and the algebraic heat flux model for the turbulence heat flux, simulations are carried out for radial gravity Rayleigh number, Rar, in the range 105≤|Rar|≤109. The turbulence levels in the flows are low, even for this range of parameter values, but they increase with time to attain a quasi-steady state.
