Abstract

Polypyrrole nanostructures were produced by chemically synthesizing polypyrrole within the pores of alumina membranes. Transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the morphology of the structures. It was found that the nanostructures were linear aggregates of irregular blobs. The temperature dependence of the resistance across the nanostructure-filled alumina membranes was found to be in accordance with Mott variable range hopping over the observed temperature range (78-300 K).
