Abstract
As writers find ways to respond to complex interactions in networked and global spaces, revisiting the rhetorical idea of ethos as dwelling place becomes critical. Following ideas from Heraclitus (1971), Heidegger (1977), and Cordova (2013), maintaining virtual residencies can bridge two visions of writing-one as fragmentary, convergent, modular, and rhizomatic, the other as shaper of the rational-through interactivity and reflection. ePortfolios and blogfolios represent networked residencies- or teachable models of multimodal textuality that can reveal the relationship of writing to technology.
