Abstract
For the first time, global reconstructions of seasonal temperatures (winter and summer) and annual precipitation totals are presented for three warm epoches of the past: the Holocene optimum (6000-5000yr ago), the Last Interglacial (about 125 000yr ago), and the Pliocene 4.3-3.3 million years ago). The maps are based on landscape reconstructions for these three time sections made by summarizing a vast amount of empirical data (paleobotanical, paleontological, paleohydrological, and other evidence). These reconstructions are considered as possible scenarios of a global climate change due to anthropogenic warming. -Journal summary
