Abstract
The use of colloidal graphite as an admixture in cement and as a coating on cement for electromagnetic interference shielding was discussed. In the case of cement-matrix containing graphite particles, the electromagnetic radiation interacts with each graphite particles, while the interaction with cement matrix is little. It was found that the low conductivity of cement paste containing 0.1μm carbon filament is due to the small diameter of the filament and the consequent large number of filament-filament contact point per unit time. Due to the electrical resistance associated with each contact point, the conductivity of the composite is low.
