Abstract
Powder neutron diffraction and Rietveld analysis were used to investigate the crystal structures of hydrated and deuterated samples of NaxWO3+x/2,yH2O (x ~ 0.17, y ~ 0.23). The compound, which crystallizes with the symmetry of space group P6/mmm, is related to the hexagonal tungsten bronze structure but differs from it due to the presence of sodium and oxygen along the hexagonal tunnel. Some of the oxygens appear in the structure as water molecules. The oxygen is disordered along the z axis in the hexagonal cavity with sodium in the hexagonal window.
