Abstract

We consider soft-pion corrections to the Skyrme soliton to one-loop order. Starting from Weinbergs low-energy expansion, we construct a meaningful and consistent effective description to one loop, which embodies Skyrmes model in the classical limit. In this context the soft-pion contributions to the nucleon and -isobar masses are evaluated, and their relevance to baryon dynamics discussed.
