Abstract

A new layered vanadium oxide, (C5H5NH)V3O7, has been synthesized by a solvothermal process at 200°C; this is the first vanadium oxide to have an aromatic intercalate between the V3O7 sheets, and it has a monoclinic structure with space group P21 and lattice parameters a = 7.5296(6) Å, b = 6.6592(8) Å, c = 10.1513(12) Å and β = 94.460(2)°.
