Abstract
Spontaneous particle enrichment was observed adjacent to the free surface of dense suspensions in confined domains. Experiments showed that particle accretion results in stability considerations that would not have existed in a uniform suspension. Local fingering instability occured in the accretion band for conditions favoring global stability.
