Abstract
Stress-induced anovulation (functional hypothalamic amenorrhea) results when behavioral stressors and energetic imbalance compromise hypothalamic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) drive and thereby align reproductive expenditure with the external and internal milieu. Understanding the determinants of stress-induced anovulation yields novel and refined therapeutic interventions. Appropriate coping strategies preserve reproductive and overall health. © 2007
