Abstract
A series of polyurethanes containing different percentages of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) molecules was synthesized and investigated by means of gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry and simultaneous wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) techniques. The DSC scans showed an increase of Tg in the soft segment with the increase in POSS, which suggests an increase in the miscibility between the soft and hard segments, leading to a more uniform polymer matrix with less microphase separation. This was further supported by SAXS results.
