Temperature dependence of the electric field gradient of Cd in Hg

Abstract

We have measured the quadrupole interaction of 107CdHg as a function of temperature. The relatively large temperature variation observed is consistent with the assumption of lattice vibrations as the main source for the temperature dependence of the electric field gradient.
