Abstract
The glaucomas are characterized by optic nerve (ON) and retinal nerve fiber layer (rNFL) damage and corresponding changes in visual function often revealed through visual field testing. An appreciation of the anatomy of the normal ON and the pathological changes that occur in glaucomatous optic neuropathy (GON) is essential for the early detection and monitoring of these diseases.
