The width of the Δ-isobar in chiral soliton models

Abstract

The strong decay width Δ→πN is estimated using a linear meson-nucleon coupling derived from a constrained quantization of the ω-stabilized version of the Skyrme model. Due to the inherent gauge conditions, this coupling is subleading in Nc and differs from the one proposed by Adkins, Nappi and Witten in the context of soliton models.
