Abstract

The strong decay width Δ→πN is estimated using a linear meson-nucleon coupling derived from a constrained quantization of the ω-stabilized version of the Skyrme model. Due to the inherent gauge conditions, this coupling is subleading in N_c and differs from the one proposed by Adkins, Nappi and Witten in the context of soliton models.
