Abstract
Few areas of pediatric urology have undergone such changes in understanding as vesicoureteral reflux. Initially considered a surgical disease, the modern approach has focused on medical management for most cases. Of patients who require surgical correction, robotic assisted laparoscopic ureteral reimplantation has been considered as a viable technique. Proponents feel that this approach improves cosmesis, pain control, and incision length. However, concerns regarding heterogeneous results, increased cost, and a prolonged learning curve continue to slow its adoption.
