title = "Vacuum-assisted, phaseguide-assisted blood typing device for point-of-care(poc) diagnostics",
abstract = "A device for determining the blood type of a person for point-of-care(POC) diagnostics has been developed. The mixing of fluids in a parallel fashion utilizing the micropumping by gas permeability of polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) is attempted for the first time on this device[1]. The device structure consists of a sample inlet, three inlets for anti-seras, phaseguide structures for meeting and mixing of fluids and a pneumatic chamber where a manually operated syringe is connected by means of a tube to facilitate the micropumping. The blood type is determined by an agglutination assay that depends on the presence of specific antigen in the sample.",
